Places of Origin
What do we see here?
This map shows the places of origin for objects mentioned in the Sources studied in the project. The determination of coordinates was based on modern-day place names, which sometimes produced locational shifts. Additional distortions can also result from the fact that with designations such as, for example, “China,” the place markers on the map reflect the coordinates of the center of the country. Thus the impression may arise that numerous Chinese objects came from the same location in the middle of the country. For further information, see "Origin".
